Retired Dietician Hephzibah GA.Mrs.Jessie Bell Key Blackwell 84 entered peacefully into rest with her family by her bedside Sunday, July 13, 2008, after a 6 year battle with Cancer at her residence. Graveside services will be held in Hillcrest Memorial Park on Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at 10:00 A.M., with Mr. Leon Gentry officiating. She was preceded in death by her brother, Frank Key, sisters, Elnora Lucky and Genelle Kirkland, daughter, Martha Faye Baldowski and her son Lonnie Edward Blackwell. Survivors include her daughters, Annette Combs and her husband Pete of Hephzibah and Judith Laverne Blackwell of Augusta; son, Harry Stone and his wife Evelyn of Hephzibah; sister, Alice Schlein of Augusta; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind three very caring nieces Dorthann Cooper, Lucille Loveridge, Alma Lucky and two loyal supportive friends throughout her illness Willie and Elizabeth Williams. Mrs. Blackwell was born in Hephzibah to the late Jesse and Fairy Key. She was a graduate of Hephzibah High School and a retired Chief Dietician from Gracewood State School and Hospital. She attended the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Hephzibah faithfully and was baptized in 1950 as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. Jessie loved nature and had her property turned into a Wildlife Perserve, called 'Jesse's Woods' in honor of her father. She loved playing the guitar, piano, eating fried fish and sitting on her porch swing. The family would like to thank Trinity Hospice, Brenda, Cindy, Marie and Janice for assisting us with the care and her medical needs and all of those who called regularly.
