STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Former Staten Islander Donna E. Cullari, 65, of Middletown, N.J., a retired legal secretary who enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, died Wednesday at home following a long battle with cancer.

Born Donna Elizabeth Kilroy in Midland Beach, she moved to Middletown in 2007.

A graduate of New Dorp High School, Ms. Cullari was a legal secretary for 27 years at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton, a Manhattan law firm. She retired due to illness in October of 2011.

In her leisure time, she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed traveling and reading. Her family said her faith and courage in the face of her illness was inspirational.

Ms. Cullari was a member of Grace Bible Fellowship, Keyport, N.J.

Surviving are two daughters, Donna Meola and Dina Larsen; two brothers, Robert and David Kilroy, and five grandchildren.

Arrangements for a private funeral and cremation are being handled by the John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. Burial was in Moravian Cemetery, New Dorp.
