A memorial service for Dorothy Keeling King, 89, of Medford, will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 24, at First United Methodist Church, 123 Ocean Blvd. SE, in Coos Bay. Private interment will be at Sunset Memorial Park in Coos Bay.
She was born June 14, 1915, to William and Rosina (Beisiegel) Keeling, in St. Paul, Minn. She died July 19, 2004, in Medford.
Dorothy moved to the Rogue Valley in October 2003 from the Coos Bay area, where she had lived for more than 80 years. In 1946, she married Gilbert Scott King, who preceded her in death in April 2002. Dorothy worked as a bookkeeper for Cape Arago Lumber Company for approximately 40 years.
She enjoyed reading, bingo and crossword puzzles. She was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church in Coos Bay and a member of the Bay Area Hospital Auxiliary, where she had volunteered more than 5,000 hours.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Jim Weldon of Medford; six grandchildren, Cheri and Kurt Bennett of North Bend, Larry and Annette Hall of Sutherlin, Scott and Rennelle Hall of Eugene, Terry Hall of Eugene, Tonya and Tony Sowles of Eagle Point and Tau Swearington of Yreka, Calif.; eight great-grandchildren; and one brother, William and Bette Keeling of Portland.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Joan Hall, in 1999; and one grandson, Matthew Weldon, in December 1989.
