Betty J. Knapp, 74, of Springfield, passed peacefully on Sunday, August 21, 2005 at St. John's Hospice.Mrs. Knapp was born April 24, 1931 in Antlers, OK, the daughter of Cecil and Bess Nelson Sharp. She married Rex Knapp on December 31, 1949 in Antlers, OK; he preceded her in death February 1982.Mrs. Knapp worked in the Water Department for the City of Aurora, and was Secretary to the Athletic Director at Waubonsee Community College in Sugar Grove, IL. She was a founding member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Aurora where she was very active, and was currently a member of Laurel United Methodist Church in Springfield. She was a member of the Clara Swain Circle. She was a member of the Choctaw nation.She was also preceded in death by parents and granddaughter, Jenna Marie Knapp in 1984.She is survived by one daughter, Deborah (husband, Dale) Dornblaser of Springfield; two sons, Carl Knapp of Geneva, John (wife, Cynthia) Knapp of Homewood; three grandchildren, Ted (wife, Kathleen) Radtke, Sherri (husband, Kevin) Cuda and Emily Knapp and three great grandsons, Teddy and Ryan Radtke and Anthony Cuda.Family will receive friends from 5 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 24, 2005 at Kirlin-Eagan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Additional visitation will be from 9:45-10:45 a.m. on Thursday, August 25, 2005 at Laurel United Methodist Church, 631 W. South Grand Ave., Springfield. Funeral Services will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. John Hamilton officiating. Burial will follow at Rochester Cemetery.The family of Betty J. Knapp is being served by Kirlin-Eagan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield.
