Wife of Benjamin Burgess (1790-1865).

"Burial of Benjamin Burgess is unknown. Benjamin Burgess Sr. was born about July 1789 in Rhode Island. He served in the Connecticut Militia during the War of 1812. He may be related to the Benjamin Burgess listed in the 1790-1810 censuses of Providence, Rhode Island. He married firstly Sally Doane on 16 November 1817 in Bradford Co., Pennsylvania, and secondly Jemima (Knapp) Beal about 1840. He is listed in the 1810-40 censuses for Bradford Co., Pennsylvania, and in 1850 in Rock Co., Wisconsin, but has not been found in 1860. He died on 1 December 1865 in Rock Co., Wisconsin, having had five sons, three by his first wife, and two by his second:

State, but has resided in the Town of Union for over 42 years and for several years past with her daughter, Mrs. Wm. Hubbard, where she was tenderly cared for up to her demise.

The funeral was held at the house on Tuesday, July 5, and the remains found a last resting place in the Evansville cemetery. Rev. W. L. Jones, officiating.
