Lucille Mary Dorney, 96, formerly of Cetronia died Monday, August 30, 2010 in Cedarbrook, South Whitehall Township. She was the widow of Henry William Dorney. Born in Lehigh County, she was the daughter of the late Ed and Bessie (Schmoyer) Knappenberger.
She was a graduate of Allentown High School. Lucille was a receptionist at the YMYWCA, Allentown from December of 1967 until retiring in 1976. Previously she was employed as a sales clerk at the former H. Leh & Co., Allentown. Very active in the YWCA, Lucille had served on the board of directors. She was a member and past President of the Y Wives Club. She had served on the building fund drive for the YMYWCA, when it was built on 15th Street, Allentown. She was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels of Lehigh County for over 10 years and the former Allentown Hospital, 17th and Chew Sts., for over 20 years. She was a volunteer for the food bank through the Lehigh County Conference of Churches.
Survivors: Son, Barry J. Dorney husband of Bonnie G. Dorney of Allentown; daughter, Marcia K. wife of Lawrence R. Adwin of Bridgewater, MA; four grandchildren; two great granddaughters. Lucille was predeceased by her husband and a son, Philip K. Dorney.
Services: Committal Service 11 a.m. Friday at Cedar Union Cemetery, Cetronia. Call 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday in the J.S. Burkholder Funeral Home, 16th and Hamilton Sts., Allentown.
