Chester "Chet" Kondratowicz, 85, of the Northwest side of Chicago formerly of Joliet. U.S. Army veteran, Korean War. Beloved son of the late Emily, nee Sosonka and the late Ambrose Kondratowicz. Loving brother of Dr. Walter F. (Evelyn) Kondratowicz, the late Harriet Kondratowicz and the late Sabina Kondratowicz. Proud uncle of Steven (Nancy), John (Cheryl), Michael and Diane Kondratowicz; grand uncle of Andrew, Darby, Kelsey, Robert and Jillian, Great grand uncle of Charles and Sage. Chet was an educator at St. Mel High School, Schurz High School; professor emeritus at Lewis University where he was director of the theatre department, awarded an honorary Doctor of Humanities in 2006. Holds degrees in theatre and English from the University of Minnesota and Loyola University; He has directed extensively on the college, community and professional levels. He was Director of Fine Arts Programming at St. Patrick Performing Arts Centre and member of the Jeff Awards Committee. Visitation will be held at the M. J. Suerth Funeral Home, 6754 N. Northwest Hwy., Chicago , Thursday, Nov. 10, 2016 from 4- 8 pm. Funeral Friday, 9:15 am prayers at funeral home to Queen of All Saints Basilica where Mass will be celebrated10:00 am.
