Mrs. William Fesenmaier, nee Barbara Kraus, residing on North Minnesota street, and who spent nearly half a century in this community, passed away at the Loretto hospital, Sunday evening at 10:40 o'clock. She had been ailing, for over a year, but her condition, while aggravated by occasional attacks due to dilation and dropsy of the heart, did not become serious, until some three weeks prior to her demise. On June 16, Mrs. Fesenmaier was taken to the hospital for medical care. Deceased was past 64 years of age, having been born in Wuerttemberg, Germany, December 11, 1866. When but 16 years old, she emigrated to the United States with the late Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Matsch, early settlers of West Newton township, and made her home with the Wolfgang Bushard family in that community, until her marriage to William Fesenmaier, which was solemnized at Holy Trinity Catholic Church here, January 24, 1888. Shortly thereafter, they settled on a farm in Cottonwood township, which was the family home until 1900, when Mr. and Mrs. Fesenmaier retired from active agricultural pursuits and moved to New Ulm. Here, the former was employed in the hardware and implement business of his brother Robert Fesenmaier, for about 25 years, until shortly before his death, which occurred, December 6, 1928. Mrs. Fesenmaier was the mother of three children, one of whom, Mrs. Walter H Pixley, of Colorado City, Colo, passed away October 4, 1915. The two living children are George B Fesenmaier of New Ulm, and Miss Ann Fesenmaier, Chicago, Ill. The latter arrived here June 18 to help care for her mother. Three grandchildren also survive, as does one brother Vincent Kraus, of Leipzig, Sask, Canada. Funeral services were conducted at Holy Trinity Catholic church here, Wednesday morning at 9 o'clock, following which the remains were laid to rest in the Catholic cemetery. St Elizabeth and Christian Mothers' societies of which deceased was a member, attended the last rites in a body.
