AUGUST KROSTAG 1913

On Friday afternoon, Mr. August Krostag, a longtime and well known and respected resident of Kiel had a sudden and unexpected death. Mr. Krostag, who was in good health, returned home from a walk in the village, had reached his yard when he had a heart attack and collapsed to the ground dead.

The deceased was born on May 24, 1841 in New-Zuerichen, Schlesien, Germany and married Miss Louise Schulz in 1862, and came to America with his family in 1867 and settled in Town Schleswig, where he worked as a mason. Later he purchased a farm four miles north of Kiel which he managed for many years. Twenty-one years ago he moved to Kiel. His wife died in August of 1911.

Of the ten children who were born to the marriage, seven are still alive, namely, Pauline who is a widow and lived in Milwaukee, John, William and Emilie (Mrs. Esser) near Marshfield, August of Ladysmith, Edward and Hulda (Mrs. Paul Tetzlaff) in Kiel.

The burial took place on Tuesday afternoon beside his wife at the Kiel Cemetery. Mr. Wm. Broeckert did the burial service.
