Edward H. Krostag, 79, of Kiel, died Monday evening, Feb. 2, 2004, at his home. He was born April 25, 1924, in Kiel, son of the late Edward and Mary Wittrock Krostag. He was a 1942 graduate of Kiel High School.
Eddie was a member of the US Navy, serving his country during World War Ii from March 1943 until April 1946. He saw action aboard the USS Price in the Atlantic and Pacific Theatres. On July 3, 1948, he married Alice Johnson at the Presbyterian Church, Kiel
In 1949, he came to work as an apprentice at Meiselwitz Funeral Home, Kiel. He graduated from the Wisconsin Institute of Mortuary Science, WIMS, and continued to work for the funeral home from 1951 to 1957, when they couple purchased their own funeral home in Oostburg. Eddie and his wife, Alice, were owners of the Krostag Funeral Home, Oostburg until 1985 and continued working at his trade until 1992 when he retired.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Kiel, Lakeshore Funeral Directors, Wisconsin and National Funeral Directors Association, The American Legion, Oostburg and Kiel VFW and a former member of the Kiwanis, Oostburg, Boy Scout Leader and the Thursday afternoon bowling league at Ninmer's Lanes, Kiel.
Eddie enjoyed hunting, fishing, singing, dancing, the great outdoors and going up north.
Survivors include his wife, Alice; and five children, Edward A (Diane) Krostag of Oostburg, John W. (Carla) Krostag of Oostburg, William D. Krostag of Cedar Grove, Ann (Ivan) Eernisse of Oostburg, and James A. (Denise) Krostag of Oostburg. He is further survived by eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren; one sister, Irene Krostag of Hawaii.
