Obituary for Corlyn Nelly La Belle

Corlyn Nelly La Belle, 96, Green Bay, passed away peacefully Wednesday morning, September 17, 2014. Born April 8, 1918, in Green Bay, she is the daughter of the late Fred and Emma (Wagner) Lyman. Corlyn is a 1936 graduate of East High School. Corlyn worked for the WPA until her marriage to Clayton W. LaBelle on November 24, 1939, and he preceded her in death on March 19, 1985. The couple began their lives together in Sturgeon Bay where Corlyn worked for Smith Shipyard as Mr. Smith’s personal secretary and where Clayton worked as a welder. Following WWII, the couple moved to Green Bay. Corlyn worked for a brief time with Smith Abstract Company prior to becoming a full time homemaker. She enjoyed time spent hunting and fishing with Clayton. The couple enjoyed gardening together and also participated in many activities, including hosting football parties, with their “gang” of five other couples. Corlyn also enjoyed her several card clubs, doing crossword puzzles in ink, volunteering at the Elmore School library, and sharing her delicious homemade bread. She will be remembered for her twice-yearly trips to California to visit her daughter and family.

Corlyn is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Corlyn and Bob Haring of Naperville, IL; one son, Craig La Belle of Green Bay; eight grandchildren, Christopher, David (Carrie), Corlyn (Jeff), Rebekeh (Keenan), Sarah (Jason), Jesica, Clayton, and Kendall; 14 great-grandchildren, Meaghan, James, Morgan, Ella, Owen, Marlee, Ava, Morgan, Braydon, Corben, Corlyn, Liam, Clayton, and Gavyn; cousins, Karen Daniels, Patricia Allee, Grace Davis, Jeff Fisher, Ellen Lyman, Jody Collins and her children, Nicole and Sean.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton; and one sister, Emma Mildred.

Visitation at Malcore (East) Funeral Home, 701 N. Baird Street, Friday, Sept. 19, from 4-8pm. Visitation to continue Saturday, Sept. 20, at the funeral home from 10am until the time of the service at 11am. Burial in Nicolet Memorial Gardens.

Many heartfelt thanks to the staff at Grancare Nursing Center who took wonderful care of Corlyn. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a memorial fund has been established at the funeral home.
