Inscription

He was appointed Captain July 5, 1780; Major, March 5, 1787; Lieut. Col. June 15, 1791; was also a Justice of the Peace for Rockingham County, Feb. 3, 1812. Through a long and useful life he was actuated by those republican principles which inspired the patriots of the American Revolution, that man is capable of self-government and gave them his warm and constant support.

He died universally esteemed.
