FRANKLIN - Mrs. Sallie Lankford Darden, 87, died Thursday night in Southampton Memorial Hospital. She was a native of Southampton County and the widow of Hunter Darden. She was a lifelong member of Smith Ferry Extension Homemakers Club. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Louise Vaughan and Mrs. Dorothy Cotton, and four sons, Hunter Darden, Jr., Harvey Darden, Thomas Irvin Darden, and Charles B. Darden, all of Franklin; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in her home by the Rev. William LaWall and Dr. Ira D. Hudgins. Burial will be in Poplar Spring Cemetery with Wright Funeral Home, Franklin in charge.

A funeral service for Mrs. Sallie Lankford Darden, 87, was held Sunday at 2 p.m. in her home by the Rev. William LaWall and Dr. Ira D. Hudgins. Burial was in Poplar Spring Cemetery with Wright Funeral Home in charge. Pallbearers were: her four sons and John L. Eley, Jr., Aubrey Lankford and Preston Cotton. She died Thursday night in Southampton Memorial Hospital. A native of Southampton County, she was the widow of Hunter Darden. She was a lifelong member of Sycamore Baptist Church and its woman's missionary society and a member of Smith Ferry Extension homemakers club. Survivors include two daughters: Mrs. Louise D. Vaughan and Mrs. Dorothy D. Cotton; and four sons, Hunter Darden, Jr., Harvey Darden, Thomas Irvin Darden, and Charles B. Darden all of Franklin; 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
