Idona Mareah Larsen Acord 1917 ~ 2009

Idona Mareah Larsen Acord, age 92, passed away June 22, 2009 in Bountiful, Utah at the Orchard Cove Care Center.

She was born April 4, 1917 in Moroni, Utah to Mozart and Anna Leah Olsen Larsen.

Mom married her eternal companion Clair R. Acord on December 23, 1938 in the Manti LDS Temple. Idona was raised in and around Moroni where she graduated from Moroni High School. She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, having served as Mutual President, Relief Society President, and as Stake Relief Society Secretary, and a Temple Worker in both the Provo and American Fork Temples. Mom especially enjoyed helping the new brides on their wedding day. Mom enjoyed sewing, quilting and needlepoint, and made many items for her family and friends. Friends and family waited eagerly for Christmas just to receive her peanut brittle. It was the best! Mom dedicated her life to loving and supporting her husband and family in all of their endeavors and callings no matter how small. We could count on Mom for help and guidance. She made a wonderful home in the numerous places that they lived. Not only for her family, but the many friends she had in her life.

Mom is survived by her three loving children: Newell (Pamela) Acord of North Salt Lake; Reid (Nancy) Acord of West Bountiful; and Janeen (Paul) Kelly of Reno, NV; 11 grandchildren and 39 great-grand children. She is also survived by a sister, Leanna Anderson of Ely, NV; and a sister-in-law Doris Larsen of Ephraim.

She was preceded in death by her husband Clair, her parents, a brother, McCoy, a sister, Euleda, and twin granddaughters, Stacey and Tracey Acord.

Graveside services will be held Monday, June 29, 2009, at 10:00 a.m. at the Orem City Cemetery, 1500 North 800 East, Orem.

Friends may call at the Berg Mortuary of Orem, 500 North State Street, Sunday evening, June 28, 2009, from 6-8 p.m. Interment, Orem City Cemetery.

Condolences may be sent to [email protected] In lieu of flowers, please donate to the general scholarship fund at Utah State University in the name of Idona Acord.
