BORN TO: Joseph Franklin and May Lillian Booth Hackett Marsh
MARRIED TO: George Douglas Gardner, 30 Aug 1939, Salt Lake City UT LDS Temple; deceased 1966 in Illinois.
MARRIED TO: Gordon Larsen, 1976; deceased 2000.

Fern Marsh Gardner Larsen passed away peacefully on February 26, 2011 at the age of 92. She was born in Alpine, Utah on July 13, 1918, the 6th of 7 children to Joseph Franklin and May Lillian Booth Hackett Marsh

She grew up in Alpine and was present when her sister, MayRene, was born at her grandparents' home, when Fern was 5 years old.

Her father owned the general store in Alpine for many years and it was here that Fern learned her many management skills, including tending the store and taking care of the books and money for the store. As a high school student, she often took store receipts to the bank during lunch breaks. She was graduated from American Fork High School in 1936. After graduating from high school, she lived with her older sister, Cleone, in Kansas City, where she attended Business College.

She returned to Utah and met her eternal companion, George Douglas Gardner, when her brother, Ray, brought Douglas home to meet the family. Fern and Douglas soon fell in love and were married in the Salt Lake Temple on August 30, 1939. They lived in Salt Lake where Douglas was graduated from the University of Utah in 1943. After graduating, Douglas worked for the US Bureau of Mines in Salt Lake and Missouri. Later they moved to Illinois, where Douglas worked for National Petro-Chemicals Corp.

Fern was the Stake Relief Society President in the Champaign Illinois Stake and served for many years. She and Douglas were parents of four sons: David (Nancy) Cedar Hills, UT; Robert (Joan) Bakersfield, CA; Richard (Tamera), Goodyear, AZ; and Mark (Adele) Bakersfield, CA.

Douglas died in 1966 in Illinois and soon Fern returned to Utah where she has lived since. She has lived in Provo, Highland, and Orem. She served as ward Relief Society President in Provo and as Assistant Matron in the Provo Temple when it first opened in 1972.

Fern married Gordon Larsen in 1976 and he passed away in 2000

SURVIVED BY: her four sons and their spouses, 22 grand-children and 38 great grandchildren. Survived by her sister, MayRene (Don) Goul.
