Georgena was the daughter of Barnabas and Annie Maria (Freeman) Freeman both of Nova Scotia.

The family moved to Massachusetts around 1878.

She first married 27 Aug 1887 James William Strong, born in 1867 in Quincy to Zebulon and Marancy M (Budding) Strong. They had 3 children; Harry Lawrence b 3 Apr 1888, Stuart Ray b 15 Feb 1894, and Gladys H born 16 Mar 1896 died 23 Mar 1984. They divorced somewhere between 1900-1910.

1910 Federal Census she is found with 3 children and divorced. 1920 federal census not found. 1930 Federal Census she is in her daughters Gladys's house as Georgena Leland, widowed in Worcester, Mass. In the 1940 Federal Census she can be found in her sons Stuart's house in Windsor, Vermont.
