SALEM – Barbara L. Bailey, 67, died at 3:50 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 27, 2016, at her home following a long illness.
Mrs. Bailey was born Feb. 10, 1949, in Salem, a daughter of the late Anthony R. and Madelaine “Mama” Salvino Leone, and had lived in this area all of her life.
She had been employed as a cosmetologist for several years, last working at Copeland Oaks, and had also been instrumental in opening and closing the former Photomat store in Salem. She also had been a waitress at the former Crosser’s Diner in Lisbon. She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Salem.
She is survived by her husband, John E. Bailey, whom she married Feb. 22, 1969; a son, Eric (Esther) Bailey Sr. of Salem; three sisters, Martha (Richard) Jeffries of Salem, Diane (Dave) Miller of Damascus, and Sandy (John) Green of East Palestine; a brother, Joseph (Laura) Leone of Leetonia; four grandchildren, Eric (Cassandra) Bailey Jr., Ethan Bailey, Cheyenne Harrison, and Christian Scahill; a great-grandson, Bentley; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her loving pet macaw, Bubba.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 1, 2016, at the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home in Leetonia, with the Rev. Robert Edwards officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Leetonia.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday.
