"Briscoe Funeral Held Thursday.

The Methodist church was filled Thursday afternoon with many friends who wanted to pay their last respects to Mrs. Benj. Briscoe, Jr. Floral offerings were in profusion. Death had come Tuesday afternoon at the local hospital.

Dr. Glenn McGee of Tucson was assisted by Rev. Harry V. Leland at the funeral services. Mrs. Lloyd Elkenberry played soft organ music and accompanied Arian Bos who sang, " In the Garden." And " Sometime We'll Understand." Pallbearers were Gordon Ewing, Joe Hines, Dick Thompson, George Coleman, Joe Sheehan and D.A. Smith.

Mrs. Briscoe was born Oct. 4, 1907 in Independence, Calif. as Ida Elizabeth Libbey. Her father was a mining engineer, moved to this section of the country when she was a child and she received most of her secondary education in the Willcox schools. She was a graduate of the University of Arizona and taught in the elementary schools in various places. At the time of her final illness she was employed as a teacher in the local system. An ardent civic worker, Mrs. Briscoe took her part in various organizations. She was especially interested in Woman's Club work and had served the local club in various capacities. At the time of her passing she was the president.

She leaves to mourn her going, her husband, Benj. Briscoe, her daughters Nancy M. and Mary Elizabeth. Her mother, Ida A. Libbey of Tucson was with her during her last illness. Her brother, Rainey Libbey, a mining engineer, who is located in Chile, South America was not called home.

Mrs. Briscoe was a member of the Presbyterian church in Tucson, but while living in Willcox, she was an active worker in the Methodist church and attended its services. Interment was in the Sunset cemetery. The Willcox Funeral home were the officiating morticians.

Lamb, Fresno, Calif; Lester Class, Phoenix; Bill Williams, Tucson; Dick Thompson, W.I. Welker, Bowie; Boyd Hodges, Aravaca; Tom Adams, Dragoon; Mmes. J.B. Merritt, Merced, Calif.; Don Otto and Wallace Curtis of Tucson and Mrs. John Gates of Bowie."
