She was born July 29, 1908, in Buffalo County, a daughter of John and Frances Mathis Lindstrom. She attended Burnside School. On Aug. 18, 1931, Florence married Clare Abbott at Lyster Lutheran Church. They farmed in the town of Dunn, Dunn County, all their married life. Clare died on Sept. 13, 1985. Florence was a life member of East Chapel and United Methodist Church, and a long-time member of Royal Neighbors. She loved to cook, crochet and garden.
She is survived by one son, Dean (Wanda) Abbott of Durand; four grandchildren, Lon (Lynn) Abbott of Durand, Kerry Abbott of Mauston, Kelly (Ron) Weisenbeck of Eau Galle, and Sandy (Mark) Jessen of Oronoco, Minn.; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, John Lindstrom of Modena; one sister, Leona Grippen of Durand; and many nieces and nephews.
Florence was preceded in death by her parents, John and Florence Mathis Lindstrom; her husband, Clare Abbott; one son, Jerome Abbott; two brothers, Alvin "Jack" Lindstrom and Victor Lindstrom; and four sisters, Olive Stewart, Idell Johnson, Ruby Walmsley and Christine Walter.
Funeral services were Thursday, Sept. 29, 2005, at the United Methodist Church in Durand, with Pastor Sue Bryce officiating. Music was provided by Audrey Martin. Casket bearers were Jeremy Abbott, Kara Abbott, Brittany Weisenbeck, Brianne Weisenbeck, Jordan Jessen, Kayla Abbott and Mackenzie Jessen. Burial was in Clearview Cemetery, town of Eau Galle. Arrangements by the Goodrich Funeral Home in Durand.
