Monegasque Princess. Former princess of the Lorraine dynasty, she became sovereign consort of Monaco following her marriage to the future Antony I of Monaco, at that time duke of Valentinois. However, the conjugal union strongly desired by the King of France Louis XIV, was not among the happiest because of both the indifference of her husband and the extroverted character of Marie but above all for the lack of direct male heirs, having only had daughters.
