FORMER RESIDENT CELEBRATES 81ST BIRTH DATE

Mrs. Isadora Losee Allen of St. George, formerly of Vernal, celebrated her 81st birthday anniversary Saturday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Louisa Workman.

Mrs. Allen was born November 26, 1868, in Spanish Fork, the youngest of 12 children of Isaac Huff and Sarah Gilbert Losee. When she was 11 she moved with her family to Orderville. As a young girl she used to spin cotton and wool yarn among other household jobs.

She was married to John M. Allen February 5, 1885 and lived for a number of years on the Arizona Strip and southern Utah communities. Later she married to Isaac Morley Allen and lived here in Vernal until 1938 when they moved to St. George to work in the LDS Temple there. Mr. Allen died in 1945.

Isadora L. Allen Dies; Services Held Wednesday.

Isadora Losee Allen, 88, died April 27, at the home of her daughter Mrs. Lovisa Workman, of St. George. She was born November 26, 1868 in Spanish Fork to Isaac Huff Losee and Sarah Gilbert Losee, who were both born in Canada, then later moved to Michigan after their marriage. They also resided in Nauvoo and Salt Lake City, Moving to Orderville, Utah in 1879, to join the United Order. Isadora, the youngest of 12 children, here learned to spin the yarn for making stocking and mittens.

On February 5, 1885 she married John M. Allen, to them was born seven children, five of whom survive. He later died and she married Isaac M. Allen November 12, 1926. They moved to St. George to do work in the temple during 1938. Isaac died March 5, 1944 and was buried in the St. George Cemetery. Since his death, she has lived with her daughter, Lovisa Workman. She was an active member of the LDS church and served in all the auxiliary organizations. She was also a member of the school board at Cane Beds, Arizona for six years.

Survivors include five sons and daughters, Joseph M., Elsinore, Utah; J. Ernest, Henderson, Nevada; Herold, Antimony, Utah; Mrs. Zelpha Bodily, Vernal; Mrs. Lovisa Workman, St. George; six step-sons and daughters, Orson Allen, Alhambra, California; Harold Allen, Las Vegas; Leon Allen and Mrs. Elnora Vernon, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Ardelia Hackford, Covina, California; Mrs. Hazel Ross, Uintah County; 32 grandchildren; 57 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Allen were held in the Second-Fourth Ward Chapel Wednesday afternoon with prelude music by Carrie B. Olson. Musical numbers were furnished by Melba Baker, Mary Lou Schmetz, Ruth Miles and Max Gentry. Following the invocation by Charles E. Allen, speakers were Zora Jarvis, President W. J. Reichmann and Charles Green, member of the bishopric. The benediction was by Warren Losee and the grave was dedicated by Harold S. Snow. Dalts Workman, Hugh Vance, Vilo, Ray and James Allen were the pallbearers. Interment was in the St. George City Cemetery under the direction of Spillsbury Mortuary.

Isadora was the daughter of Isaac Huff Losee and Sarah Gilbert Losee. Her first husband was John Millard Allen. She was left to raise her children by herself when polygamy was abolished and John chose to be with his first wife, Lydia Losee-Allen, Isadora's sister.
