Mildred J. Alton, 84 of Battle Creek, died Thursday, March 2, 2006 at Mercy Pavilion. She was born October 2, 1921 in Battle Creek, Michigan the daughter of Ora and Margaret Losee. Mildred had worked at Walgreen's, Sullivan's Dairy and the Kellogg Company from which she retired in 1964. She enjoyed bowling, needlepoint, knitting and crocheting.
In 1939, Mildred was united in marriage to Howard Alton, who survives. Also surviving is her son, Joseph Ronald (Christine) Alton of Racine, WI; daughter-in-law, Nancy Alton of Battle Creek; eight grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Howard Alton in 1998, great-granddaughter, Madison Alton and sister, Alice Sexton.
The family will receive friends at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home from 2:00 to 4:00 pm this afternoon and 6:00 to 8:00 pm Monday. Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Tuesday at the First Baptist Church, 80 E. Michigan Avenue, with Rev. Jason Crosby officiating. Friends may meet with the family one hour prior to service time at the church. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the First Baptist Church.
