"Richfield is mourning the loss of one of its noble and much loved women in the death of Mrs. Arthur H. Elwood, which occurred at her residence on Church Street Thursday afternoon, Sept. 1st, after a long illness. Mrs. Elwood, who was Miss Harriet Amelia Losee, was born in Springfield Centre on June 29th, 1848, and was educated in Canandaigua and at Miss Kelly's school in Utica. She was married to Arthur Hyde Elwood on June 15th, 1871. Mrs. Elwood was a member of the Presbyterian Church here and took an active and prominent part in the church work, being for many years treasurer of the Ladies' Society of the church. She is survived by her husband, a brother Cornelius Losee, a sister Mrs. Marietta Marks, three children, Mrs. Wm. T. Welden, Miss Madeline Elwood and Mr. Fred A. Elwood, and by two grandchildren." Correction to parents names? "---The funeral of the late Mrs. A. H. Elwood will be held at her late residence on Church Street this afternoon at 3 p. m. The statement in Friday's Daily that Mrs. Elwood is survived by a brother and sister, Cornelius Losee and Marietta Marks, was in error. Cornelius Losee was Mrs. Elwood's father, and Marietta Marks Losee her mother." ["Richfield Springs Daily" (Richfield Springs, NY)]
