Howard Lowry, 76 years, died Monday, Nov. 7, 1994.

Born in Atlanta, Ga., he lived a short time in Montgomery, Ala., and the rest of his life in Akron, Ohio. Mr. Lowry's first business endeavor was a men's clothing store in East Akron. For the next 43 years, he founded and operated Howard's Children's Shoppe, a specialty retail store for children's clothing and shoes. Many people from surrounding counties patronized and will remember his dog, "Fifi", who was the mascot of the shoppe. Also, Mr. Lowry always helped with free advice about the stock market to many people who would have questions. He was a member of Beth El Congregation, Temple Israel and its Men's Club, and JCC of Akron, past president of East Akron Board of Trade, and State Road Merchants Association, where he was one of the first and longest tenants of the State Road Shopping Center. He often made charitable contributions to the Coats for Kids and Children's Home and Shoes for Tots. He was an avid gin rummy player, belonging to a gin rummy club for over 52 years.

Mr. Lowry was the beloved husband of Sybil; devoted father and father-in-law of Rick and Rona of Akron, Ron and Deb of Canton, Randal and Jody of Akron; dear brother of Sylvia Waldman of Akron; and was preceded in death by brothers, Mack and Julius; dearest grandfather of Michael, Adam, Mora, Justin, Marisa and Meredith; and is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at Temple Israel on Merriman Road TODAY at 1 p.m. Rabbi David Horowitz and Cantor Gedaliah Gertz officiating. Interment Rose Hill Cemetery. Family will be at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Randal Lowry through Saturday evening. In lieu of other remembrances, memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, Beth El Congregation, or Temple Israel. (Gordon, 836-7989.)
