Dorothy's life on planet earth, arrived Jan 3, 1935, and departed Dec. 6, 2006.

Funeral services for Dorothy Anderson, formally of Chico, will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2006, at Brusie Funeral Home. God took her home Dec. 6, 2006, in Chico after an extended illness. She was born to Odie and Bertha Ludlow, Jan. 3, 1935, in Crosbyton, Texas.

Her father was a Navy Officer in World War II and the family lived on the East Coast, Oklahoma, and New Mexico. After World War II, the family lived in New Mexico and California.

Dorothy attended high school in Portola and Kingsburg, Calif. She graduated from Kingsburg High School in 1952. It was at Kingsburg High School where she met Don in 1952 and they were married on July 8, 1956, in the Kingsburg Methodist Church. Dorothy was a member of the Pioneer United Methodist Church in Auburn, Calif.

She followed her parents in the education field and graduated from Fresno State College in 1956, majoring in English and speech arts and a minor in physical education. Dorothy did graduate work at the University of Southern California, C.S.U.C. Chico and several other colleges. Her first teaching job was in Dinuba, Calif. She also taught in Sacramento, Redding, Auburn, Willows and San Jose, Calif., as well as Carson City, Nev., and Phoenix, Ariz. She held a Life Teaching Credential in California and Credentials from Nevada and Arizona. Don's engineering profession required relocating the family to Washington, D.C., Nevada, Arizona and various locations in Northern California. Dorothy taught in most areas where they lived.

Dorothy, known as "Dot" to her friends loved life and her family. She loved teaching, photography, traveling, and fishing as well as dancing, crafts, jewelry, clothes, swimming and lifeguarding. She was very active in the 4H programs, High School Ski Clubs as well as attending the Golden Girls reunions (high school pals) and preparing the Willows HS yearbooks.

Her daughter Dawn, was born in Kingsburg, Calif., in 1959 and is a Veterinarian in Chico. Her son Dave, was born in Redding, Calif., in 1961 and is a C.H.P. officer in Humboldt County. Her husband Don is retired and lives in Auburn, Calif.

Dorothy is survived by her husband Don of 50 years. Children: Dawn and husband Rob Rice of Chico: son, Dave and wife, Donna Anderson of Myers Flat, Calif., and a brother, Tom Ludlow and wife Susie of Imperial, Calif. She is also survived by four grandchildren: Jennifer Anderson, Chris, Scott, Jared and Alves. She also has two nieces Carrie Lacey in Texas and Susan Johnson in Oregon. Dorothy is preceded in death by her sister Linda and parents, Bertha and Odie Ludlow.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 18, 2006, at Brusie Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimers Association in care of the Funeral Home. Dorothy will be laid to rest at the New Auburn Cemetery in Auburn, Calif. .
