Deberah M. Farland (Miss Fred), 55, of Barnegat, passed away Thursday, July 8, 2010, at Van Dyke Hospice and Palliative Care Center, Toms River.

Born in Perth Amboy, she lived in California before moving to Barnegat in 1993. She was a teacher for Treasured Angels Pre-School, Barnegat. A leader of Girl Scouts in California and Barnegat for 27 years, and was a member of Bayside Chapel, Barnegat, serving in the care ministry and as a Sunday school teacher.

Deberah was predeceased by her father, Richard Ludlow. She is survived by her husband, Peter; her mother, Mary of Whiting; three daughters, Alana (Carlo) DiSalvo of Barnegat, Danielle (John) Nussbaum of Bloomington, Ill., and Samantha Farland of Barnegat; brother, Richard Ludlow of Phoenix, Ariz.; sisters, Karen Bruhn of Parlin, and Joyce Brown of Charlotte, N.C. Also surviving are her beloved seven grandchildren.

Viewing hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 11 and from 10 a.m. Monday, July 12 until the funeral service at 11 a.m. at Maxwell Funeral Home, 573 Mill Creek Road, Manahawkin. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Manahawkin. A memorial service will also be held at 7 p.m. Monday, July 12 at Bayside Chapel, Barnegat.
