BERNICE, OK. — Maxine Frances Collins, 82, Bernice, Oklahoma, died Saturday, November. 13, 1993 at Baptist Hospital in Miami, Oklahoma.

She was born November 8, 1911 at Chanute, Kansas, the daughter of Elmer and Nina (Douglas) Lukins.

She was raised in Chanute and graduated from Chanute High School.

In 1958 she married Fred W. Collins at Miami, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on May 23, 1989.

She was a retired owner of the F&M Cafe on North Grant in Chanute, KS, having operated the restaurant for 16 years. She moved to Bernice from Chanute in 1984.

She was a member of the Southern Baptist Church, Bernice, OK, and the VFW Auxiliary in Chanute, KS.

Survivors include a son, Larry Toomey, Afton, OK; a brother, Bob Lukins, Kiowa, KS; a sister, Eileen Lukins, Payson, AZ; and a grandson.

She was also preceded in death by an infant brother.

Graveside service will be Tuesday in Memorial Park Cemetery, Chanute, KS, with the Rev. C. Edgar Rains officiating.

Johnson Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials are suggested to the Generations Unit Activity Fund at Miami Baptist Hospital.
