-- Virden, Jan. 17.-Funeral services for Fred Lukens, whose body arrived over the Chicago & Alton railroad at 12:55 o'clock today, were conducted at the Virden cemetery with Rev. T. B. Miller, pastor of the Presbyterian church, officiating. The widow, three sons, Charles, Raymond and Richard, accompanied the remains to this city from Springfield, Mo. One son, Elmer, preceded him in death five years ago. He is also survived by two brothers, Harry of Streator, who with his wife attended the services; Albert of California, and one sister, Gertrude, of Nashville, Tenn.
-- Pallbearers were O. R. Rohrer, Henry Simmons, F. H. Shriver, H. R. Goette, E. E. Hart and Joseph Everetts.
-- Mr. Lukins for a number of years was superintendent of the North mine here. Had he lived until February 2 he would have been 69 years old. He had been ill since November.

NOTE: Obituary states February 2 as birth date, however, Fred's death certificate states his age at death as 68 years, 11 months, 9 days which would make his date of birth February 5th.
