John W. Lyons, 87, of Hanover, formerly of Dorchester, passed away Tuesday, September 9, 2014. Born May 28, 1927, in Boston, he was the son of the late Albert and Dolonia (MacDonald) Lyons. John was the General Manager of Bailey Press, Hub Offset, and NE Litho. He enjoyed bowling, darts, and crossword puzzles. John was a member of the Rockland Eagles and Pembroke Knights of Columbus. He proudly served our country in the Navy during World War II in the Philippines. John is survived by his wife, Eloise (Coyne) Lyons; and their children, Maureen Lyons and her husband Arnold Turner of Weymouth, John Hugh Lyons of Dalton, N.H., Michael Lyons and his wife Dianne of Abington, William Lyons of Kingston, Cpt. Paul Lyons of the U.S. Navy and his wife Kanako of Va., and the late Mary Louise Lyons. He is also survived by his brother, Joseph and his wife Irene of Everett; sister-in-law, Ann Lyons of Tewksbury, and the late Robert and Donald. John is survived by his 7 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Visiting hours in the Sullivan Funeral Homes, 551 Washington Street, Hanover, Thursday from 4-8 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday at 9 a.m. at St. Mary of the Sacred Heart, 392 Hanover Street, Hanover. Burial will follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. -
