She was born May 13, 1928, in Marathon County, the daughter of the late Gustave and Leona (Duranceau) Hollinger. She married Emil Machel on Sept. 15, 1951, at Wesley Methodist Church, Wausau. He survives.
Avila was born and raised in Brokaw before moving to Wausau. She worked at various secretarial positions in the Wausau area before retiring in 1991.
Survivors, besides her husband include one son; three granddaughters; one sister, Veryl Nowak, Wausau; one niece and one nephew.
Services will be at 1:30 pm Tuesday, Oct. 19, 1993, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Wausau. The Rev. John Meachen and the Rev. Brian Staude will officiate. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Visitation will be from noon Tuesday until time of services at the church.
