After graduating from San Diego City College, she worked at the school as a secretary and became a member of Professional Secretaries International. In the early 1960s, she went to work at General Dynamics Astronautics.
She was active in Balboa Little League and many other community activities with her sons in Clairemont and later in Scripps Ranch. She moved to Salem, Oregon in 1990, and lived there until 2001, when she moved back to San Diego County.
Survivors include her mother, Eva Kunselman; brother, Gordon Madison; sister, Loree Brown; sons, Richard and David Fisher and their wives Kathy and Valarie; five grandchildren, Alison Fretwell, Jacqueline, Jessica, Andrew, Aaron, and one great-grandson, Caleb Fretwell.
