Carmela "Millie" Aguanno passed away on September 1, 2011 at the age of ninety-three.

Millie was born March 16, 1918. Millie was the first born into Angelo and Marianna Magliocco's colorful Sicilian family.

She was raised in Brooklyn, New York, where she lived the quintessential Italian-American experience, dividing her time between working as a seamstress/dressmaker and cooking for a large family, honing to perfection her culinary skills and mastering Sicilian cuisine.

In 1980, she and her loving husband, Gaspare, who preceded her in death, moved to Palm Springs to be close to her two sons. Millie was a lifelong homemaker, a devoted wife and a wonderful mother.

She is survived by her two sons, Joseph and Angelo Aguanno; her "third son", John Henry Laslo; her granddaughter, Kristen; her sister, Mary Macri of Long Island, New York; her cousin, Mary Colletta of San Diego; and many friends who regarded her as family. We all will miss those Sunday and holiday dinners.

A Funeral Mass is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 14, 2011 at St. Theresa's Church in Palm Springs, immediately followed by interment at the Welwood Murray Cemetery in Palm Springs.
