In 2004 Dennis retired from PennDOT after 31 years of service. A US Navy veteran, Dennis honorably served his country. He attended Meadville High School. His hobbies included hunting, fishing and working in his yard. He was a handyman and enjoyed working on small building projects.
In addition to his wife, Bonnie, of 30 years, Dennis is survived by a son Carl L. Mailliard and his wife Kimberly of Meadville, a stepson Ricky A. Powell of Harmonsburg, three grandchildren Carl "CJ" Clinton, Parker Dennis, Hope Juanita Mailliard, a sister Gloria Collins and her husband Robert of Arkansas, a brother David L. Mailliard and his wife Linda of Venango, his mother-in-law Flora E. Dayton, sister-in-law Rose M. Smeltzer and her husband Don, brothers-in-law George Dayton and his wife Billie, Ed Dayton and his wife Kathy, Ben Dayton and his wife Denise, Paul Dayton and his wife Lisa, numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Dennis was preceded in death by a grandson Jacob Carl Mailliard, three brothers Wayne, Fred, William "Pete" Mailliard and a step-brother Carl Mailliard.
Dennis will be laid to rest in Denny Cemetery.
