Alice was born in Des Moines, Iowa March 23, 1926 to Floyd and Lena McClure, where she grew into a vibrant and upstanding woman.

Education was always important to Alice and it was at Iowa State University that she and G. K. (Ken) Martin met. They were married October 19, 1947 and in 2010, after 63 years of marriage, they were separated by Ken’s passing.

The couple moved to Oak Grove, Oregon in 1950 where they expanded their family to three in 1953 with the birth of her only child, Douglas B. Martin. Alice was a strong woman, a hard worker and stellar homemaker. She balanced family, home and career until her retirement from Stanley Tool where she was a steel buyer.

For Alice, retirement was hardly a reason to slow down. She was an active member of Oak Hills Presbyterian Church and enjoyed several road trip vacations with husband, Ken. A vibrant hostess with a penchant for board and card games, she was charitable, quick to love, fast to forgive and always ready with an honest opinion framed in Midwest sensibilities and greatest generation fortitude.

Alice was a much loved friend, neighbor and family member who will be missed by many. On December 23rd she passed quietly from natural causes in Oak Grove, Oregon; just in time to spend Christmas reunited with her beloved husband, Ken; son, Doug and other loved ones who preceded her in death.

She is survived by grandchildren, John Martin, Sarah Martin and Katherine Thorne as well as seven great and great-great grandchildren.
