Ines A. DiGioia of White Plains passed away on April 7, 2016. She was born August 31, 1918 in New York City to the late Angelo and Gemma Masi. On May 24, 1942 Ines married Adolph DiGioia at Immaculate Conception Church in the Bronx. Adolph pre-deceased her in 2013 – after a long and very happy 70 year marriage.
Ines graduated Wadleigh High School in Manhattan. She worked for Macy's and Genung's in retail sales, and as an office manager at Stewart Hall Chemical in Mount Vernon.
Ines was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. Largely self-taught, she loved all things artistic and beautiful: she loved reading good literature, listening to classical music and opera and viewing art in books and at museums. She was an avid gardener and an amazing Italian cook, whose meatballs were legendary.
She is survived by her children – Andrea DiGioia Rothberg of New Rochelle NY and Dr Richard DiGioia of Washington DC; her sons in law – Peter Rothberg and Robert Nelson; her grandchildren – Ethan and Miranda DiGioia Rothberg; and her brother Angelo Masi, as well as countless good friends from White Plains.
May her memory be a blessing. Interment Information - Rose Hills Memorial Park, 101 Mill Street, Putnam Valley, NY.
