BARNETT Mrs. Mary Alice Mason Barnett, daughter of the Late Elizabeth and Frank Mason, was born in Mobile, Alabama she was preceded in death by her husband, Jasper Barnett. She was a product of the Mobile County Public School System and a graduate of Dunbar High School and received a B.S. Degree in Elementary Education from Alabama State University. She was an elementary teacher in the Mobile Public School system for over thirty years, where she touched the lives of many boys and girls throughout Mobile County. She was actively involved in the National Education Association, North Mobile County Education Retirees Association, and the Alabama State Alumni Association. She was supportive and encouraging of young people to excel in education and set positive lifetime goals. She was a life member of State Street A M E Zion Church where she participated in many ministries of the Church particularly the Missionary Society, where she served faithfully until her health failed. She leaves to mourn her loss, a devoted sister M. Othello Singleton, niece, Katherine Green, Chattanooga, NC; God Children, Rueben (Gayle) Watson, Atlanta, GA, and Valarie (Dr. Richard) Dunning, Charlotte, NC, and a lifetime, loyal and devoted friend Rosemary L. Watson and her caregiver Ms. Mary Robinson. The family would like to extend special thanks to Saad Hospice, nurses, and caregivers for their loving care given during her illness. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. funeral hour on Monday, March 25, 2013 at State Street A M E Zion Church, with Reverend O'Neil Wiley officiating.
