Mrs. Virginia (ne Mason) Clanton, 93, recently of Huntsville, Ala., passed away on Thursday, March 26, 2015. A native and longtime resident of Rahway NJ, she was predeceased by her husband, James T. Clanton (1998); a son, Douglas W. Clanton (2008), and her companion of 14 years, George J. Wagenhoffer (2014).

Virginia was a graduate of Rahway High School, Class 0f 1938, and Pace Institute, New York City. She was secretary to the Rahway superintendent of schools for 13-1/2 years. Before that, she was secretary to the president of Natvar Corporation in Woodbridge, NJ.

Surviving are a son, Dr. David J. Clanton and his wife, Shelley, of Huntsville, Ala.; three grandsons, Nathaniel Clanton of Frederick, Md.; Michael Clanton of Denver, Colo., and Stephen Clanton of Bethlehem, Pa.; three great-grandsons, and a brother, Floyd E. Mason of Incline Village, Lake Tahoe, Nevada.

Arrangements are by the Pettit-Davis Funeral Home in Rahway, NJ. Cremation and burial are private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to autismspeaks.org.
