Died, at 9:30 o'clock Wednesday morning, November 29, 1916, at the family residence, 706 South Spring street, following an illness of several months, Mrs. Sarah J. Edwards, widow of the late W. D. Edwards, aged 69 years, 7 months and 13 days. Decedent was born in Morgan county, April 16, 1847, and on January 3, 1867, in this city was united in marriage with W. D. Edwards. She had been a resident of Springfield for more than thirty-five years.
Surviving are four sons, Alpheus Edwards of Texas and Benjamin F., Harvey C., and William M. Edwards of this city. Also one sister Mrs. P. A. Hoadley of Idaho, and two brothers, Fred M. Masters of Kansas City, Mo., and Frank M. Masters of Jacksonville, Ill. The remains were removed to the undertaking establishment of E. P. Metcalf and later will be taken to the residence of her son, Harvey C. Edwards, 111 West Cook street, from where the funeral will be held.
