Betsy Ann (Boote) Mathias, 79, of Birdsboro passed awayfrom Alzheimer's disease on February 11, 2013.
She was the beloved wife of (LIVING) Mathias, whom she married June 28, 1953.
Born in Reading, she was the first daughter of the late Elwood C. and Ethel M. (Kerscher) Boote, formerly of Lobachsville.
She graduated from Oley Valley High School, class of 1952. She also attended Kutztown University, and nursing school in Luzerne County, PA, graduating in 1988 with honors at the age of 55.
She worked professionally as a nursing assistant for many years in multiple locations and eventually as an LPN in Exeter.
Betsy's passion in life was her six children and their families. She also enjoyed many activities, including attending school functions, leading Sunday School at Bern UCC, and eventually moving into her own career in nursing.
Betsy was a gifted artist, from painting to hand-crafted dolls, knitting and Christmas creations, she could be found frequenting local craft venues, and enjoying conversation with local artisans. In her final years, she spent much time researching family roots and enjoying shopping, as well as her dog Brandy.
In addition to her husband,she is survived by her children, fourteen grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a sister.
Betsy was predeceased by her two sisters, Jacqueline Kremser, and Jill Jones.
Services will be held Saturday February 16, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. in Blankenbiller Funeral Home, 423 Main St Oley, PA 19547, Burial will be in Lobachsville Cemetery.
