Aged Resident of Brazil Dies This Morning.
Mrs. Mary Ellen Barnhart, widow of Charles J. Barnhardt, died at 2:45 o'clock this morning at the residence at 716 south Grant street of complications, at the age 72 years, three months and 23 days. Mrs. Barnhardt had been in failing health for several months, her death being caused by heart trouble and complications.
Mrs. Barnhardt had been a highly esteemed resident of Brazil for the past 38 years, was an active member of the First M. E. church and also a member for many years of the Woman's Benefit Association of the Maceabees. The deceased was born at Rock Ridge, Ohio, and was the daughter of Noah and Christina Mathias. She was united in marriage on February 15th, 1888, to her late husband at Monticello, Ill. Mr. Barnhart died in 1922.
Mrs. Barnhardt is survived by four sons, Councilman George E. Barnhardt, Wilbur W. and Roy W., of this city, and Charles C. Barnhardt of Terre Haute: also eight grandchildren and five brothers, Silas and Wesley Mathias, of Lancaster, Ohio, and Darius, Daniel and Franklin Mathias, of Rock Ridge, Ohio.
Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon, Rev. R. W. Michel, of the First M. E. church officiating, interment in Cottage Hill cemetery.
