"Grandma Lake" was born in Montgomeryshire, Wales. She came over to the United States in the late 1800s. Catharine married John Dean Babcock in Rhode Island and had two children: William Lewis Babcock and John Dean Babcock, the latter of whom was adopted by the Quinn family after Her husband passed away in 1903. She later remarried William Lake--hence the nickname Grandma Lake.
