Esther Foote Matthews Bowdridge Lennick, 86, of Malden, died Friday, December 12, 2003 at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital in Melrose. Esther was born and raised in Newfoundland to Robert Matthews and Rebecca Foote Matthews. She came to Malden at an early age, and settled there with her first husband, the late George W. Bowdridge Sr. until his passing. Esther worked for many years as a nurses aide in the Malden Nursing Home and also at E.M.O.C.H. center in Malden. She later remarried Mr. Louis Lennick, and the two shared many years together. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Malden, and active with the Clarke Fellowship there. She was also member St. Annes Guild within St. in Malden, a member of AARP, and a member of the Womens Society of the First Baptist Church in Malden and the Congregation Agudas Achim. Mrs. Lennick lived in Malden, Massachusetts for 50 year. She is survived by her daughter Lorraine W. Vasquez of Spencer Port, NY, her sister Emma Forward, and her brother Herbert Mathews of Canada. She was preceded in death by her husband Louis, her son George W. Bowdridge Jr. of Malden, her parents Robert and Rebecca (Foote) Mathews, her step daughter Charlotte Lewis, her step daughter Isabelle Brodsky, her step son Jerry Lennick, her sister Florence M. Miles, her brother Curtis Mathews, and her brother John Mathews.Visitation will be held at Weir MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem Street, Malden on Monday, Dec 15th, from2 - 4, and 7 - 9 Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 16, 2003 at 11:00 A.M. at First Baptist Church., 493 Main Street, Malden. Rev. Martha A. Dominy of First Baptist Church will be officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Dale Cemetery in Malden. Donations in Esther's memory may be made to the the Memorial Fund of the First Baptist Church, 493 Main Street, Malden, MA 02148.
