Roger E. Mayfield of New Orleans died Monday, Nov. 3, 2003, in New Orleans. He was 53.
Mayfield was born June 10, 1950, in Topeka, Kan., to Dick and Refa (Hopkins) Mayfield. He graduated from Fairland High School in 1968 and attended Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College in Miami. He lived in Miami until 1989, when he moved to Columbia, Mo.
He lived in New Orleans the last seven years of his life, where he was a member of Grace Baptist Church. He was a construction worker .
Survivors include two sons, Troy Mayfield and Brian Mayfield, both of Columbia; two daughters, Jessica Newton of Fairland and Jamie Mayfield of Columbia; his mother, Refa Sawyers of New Orleans; one brother, Richard Mayfield of Tennessee, Ill; two sisters, Dee Sawyers of Hawaii and Pamela A. Mayfield of Kansas City, Mo., and one granddaughter, Allison Mayfield.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 5 p.m. today at the Cooper-Althouse Funeral Home of Miami. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Community of Christ Church of Miami with Elder Rick Adams officiating. Burial will follow at the G.A.R. Cemetery.
