Julia Elizabeth Mayfield Ausmus died peacefully at Green Tree Memory Center on March 18, 2015 in Sand Springs, OK at the age of 90. Julia was born September 9, 1924 in Sapulpa, Oklahoma to Lewis D. Mayfield and Irene O'Conner Mayfield.

She graduated from Sapulpa High School in 1942 with a degree in Journalism. She married Dee Ausmus, Jr., her high school sweetheart and Owner Operator of Ausmus Construction Company, in 1945. During their marriage the couple welcomed eight children into their home and Julia set about teaching them her Catholic Faith. Her children remember Mom as kind, gentle and patient, a driven individual who was very humorous and astute in reading and English composition. She encouraged her children to pursue their goals.

Julia was accomplished at cooking, reading, writing and often helped with schools. She was a generous, witty and dedicated individual who loved language and she was passionate about educating students, and loving her family. She was an active and dedicated member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and often volunteered at church activities and Women's Club.

Julia is survived by her husband and children.

She was preceded in death by Lewis and Irene Mayfield; sisters Marquarite Chapman of Oklahoma City; 65491420 Elnora Lowe of Tulsa; June Howard of Chapel Hill, NC; Geraldine Madden of Tulsa; Newman Mayfield of Dallas, TX; her son, Eddie Ausmus; her daughter, Regina Stickler; granddaughters Patricia Salvo; Lindsey Slaton; and 29277478 Nicole Marie Stickler.

A Rosary will be held at 6:00 pm Sunday, March 22, 2015 at Green Hill Funeral Home. Visitation times are Saturday from 12:00 pm until 9:00 pm and Sunday from 1:00 pm until 9:00 pm. The family has entrusted the services to the directors at Green Hill Funeral Home.

A funeral is scheduled for Monday, March 23, 2015 at 10:30 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Sacred Heart will host a reception following the burial at Green Hill Memorial Gardens. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Julia's life. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Alzheimer's Association at 2448 E. 81st Street, Suite 3000 Tulsa, Oklahoma. The family would like to thank the caregivers at Green Tree Memory for the dedication.
