William Mayfield
William Mayfield; 77, of 478 Tequesta Drive, Palm Beach, FL formerly of Clarksburg, died at 10:55 a.m. Friday, Aug. 28 at his residence.
He was born in Smithfield, March 19, 1910, a son of the late James H. Mayfield and Ina Brown Mayfield, who survives in Clarksburg.
His wife, Margaret McGregor Mayfield, preceded him in death.
Surviving are one son, William M. Mayfield, Columbia, SC; two daughters Gene Beth Mayfield, Chapel Hill, NC and Susan Mayfield Mitchell, Tequesta and three grandchildren Shannon, Ashley and Heather Mitchell.
Also preceding him in death was one sister, Gene M. Jones.
Mr. Mayfield was a retired executive vice president of Hope Natural Gas Company with 27 years of service. he was a veteran of World War II serving with the U. S. Navy and was a member of the Bridgeport United Methodist Church.
