CHELMSFORD -- Mary P. (McCarthy) Brooking, 81, a resident of Chelmsford for fifty years, passed away peacefully Wednesday, December 8th. She was the loving wife of Marvin E. Brooking for 52 years who predeceased her in 2004.

She was born in Ventura, CA on February 3, 1929, and was a daughter of the late Francis and Lillian (Buckle) McCarthy. She was known as Pat to her family and friends and was a graduate of Lewiston High School and Northern Idaho College of Education in Lewiston, Idaho.

The most important thing in Pat's life was her family. She spent her time enjoying nature, especially bird watching and working in her garden. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, reading, and spending time with her family.

She was a longtime parishioner of St. Mary Church in Chelmsford.

Pat was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and is survived by two sons, Michael Brooking and his wife Nancy of Methuen and Robert Brooking and his wife Tina of Nashua, NH; five daughters, Kathleen Boyson of Groton, Karen Touma and her husband Michael of Pelham, NH, Teresa Harrison and her husband Xavier of Groton, Mary Anne Andrews of Haverhill and her husband Mark, and Lisa Brooking and her husband Michael Umbach of Portland, OR; eight grandchildren, Michael Touma, Jr., Dr. Kristin Touma, Amie Arsenault and her husband Joseph, Caitlin Brooking, Bryant Harrison, Gregory Harrison, Zachary Harrison, and Seth Brooking; two great grandchildren, Jarrett and Kylie Arsenault; a brother, William McCarthy of Spokane, WA; a sister, Shannon Trout of Lewiston, ID; and many nieces and nephews.

She was also the mother of the late Patricia Anne Brooking, the mother-in-law of the late James Boyson, the sister of the late Francis McCarthy, and the sister-in-law of the late Walter Trout.

BROOKING -- Her visitation will be held at the BLAKE FUNERAL HOME, 24 Worthen Street, CHELMSFORD, on Sunday from 2 until 6PM. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 9 o'clock at St. Mary Church, 25 North Rd., Chelmsford, Interment in Pine Ridge Cemetery, Chelmsford.
