BIO: Teresa "Tessi. the dockbabe" Kathleen McCoy Bernard, 48, of Mikado, MI, died in a home fire April 23, 2010. She was born in Burbank, CA, June 21, 1961 to Calvin & Emily (Elledge) McCoy Jr. She married Dennis Paul Bernard April 5, 1998, and they moved to Mikado, Michigan. Teresa was an avid bowler, a member of the Barton City Eagles Aerie #4141 Auxiliary, and a member of the American Legion of Mikado Auxiliary. She enjoyed her work as a DNR Boat launch security guard. Many on the internet know that she was a good researcher, extremely helpful to others, especially newbies, a jigsaw puzzle fan and photographer willing to stop and take the pictures that represent all that was good about where she lived, worked and played - fresh new snow, birds, sunsets, critters near the house. We know of trips to story time at the library, to the sand beach, gardening, playing in the van, exploring about the homeplace and efforts to make a driftwood garden. We all know of the dockbabe and the fun she had at the dock, out in the open air, interacting with people, a human attribute that was instantly recognized thru the net as it was in real life. We all know of the' lil luvs' and the joy shown in their fun life experiences as babes - where the simple things bring great fun and joy. We watched them grow thru the lists and we all watched Tessi move from short little one line comments to telling us about life in Michigan and of her internet ‘finds’ pertaining to family. Genealogy researchers will be able to see the spark, the life and how she reached other people by going to this link http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/search?aop and entering tessi , not Tessie in the FROM field.
Please, enjoy the wonderment of how she approached life and how she touched people she never knew face to face.
Teresa is survived by her mother, a daughter, and two sisters, eight grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Her husband and two young daughters, Teresa Ona-Elizabeth Bernard, 9, and Amanda Regina-McCoy Bernard, 7. died in the fire with her . A memorial for the Bernard Family was held May 4, 2010 at Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln, MI, with Rev. Tedd Galloway officiating. All members were cremated and remains are held by family.
