Born Nov. 28, 1922 in Penn Township, she was the daughter of Lloyd and Sadie (Meckley) McCracken. She was a homemaker, a member of the Curwensville Alliance Church where she was also active in the Alliance Women. She loved to sew for her grandchildren.
On April 13, 1940 she wed Jack Alfred Barrett who preceded her in death on April 6, 1996. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a son Jack A. Barrett Jr., a grandson Chris Hoyt, and a brother Russell McCracken.
Surviving are three daughters and a son: Lorraine Fragnito and her husband "Bee" of Stevensville, MT, Audrey Ardary and her husband Edmund of Curwensville, Edward Barrett and his wife Louise of Hamilton, MT, and Deborah Craft of Punxsutawney, In addition there are 10 grandchildren: Rick Ardary, Doug Ardary and his wife Christina, Edward Barrett Jr., David Barrett, Holly Brzozowski, Michele Barrett Myers and her husband Mike, Earl Barrett, Greg Winters, Becky Cartwright and her husband Gary, and Steve Craft.
Also surviving are numerous great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, a sister and two brothers: Elva Russell and Willard McCracken and wife Jean both of Curwensville and Irvin McCracken of Akron, OH.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Barrett will be held from the Curwensville Alliance Church, 803 Susquehanna Avenue Curwensville, on Jan. 15 at 1:00 p.m., with the Reverend Stephen Shields officiating. Interment will be in the Crown Crest Memorial Park in Hyde, PA.
Friends will be received at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. of Curwensville on Jan. 14 from 4 to 8 p.m., and again Friday from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., when the procession will depart for the church.
The family suggests contributions be made to either the Curwensville Alliance Church Fellowship Hall Fund 803 Susquehanna Avenue Curwensville, PA 16833 or the American Respiratory Alliance of NW PA 352 W. 8th St. Erie, PA 16502.
