Sarah K. McGauley Benavides, 75, of Valdosta, died on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at her residence following a lengthy illness. She was born in Hamilton County, Florida to the late Edgar & Lottie Kemp McGualey. In the late 1950's, met the late Placido Benavides when he was stationed at Moody Air Force Base. The couple was soon married and they and their children moved all over during his 20 plus year Air Force career. This career included tours in Korea & Vietnam before retiring here in Valdosta in 1977. Back here in Valdosta, Mrs. Benavides worked for many years at the Texture Tech Carpet manufacturing plant. Mrs. Benavides loved to fish, particularly with her husband, as long as her health allowed. She was a member of Ousley Baptist Church. A funeral for Mrs. Benavides will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, October 30, 2015 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home. Rev. Dillard Ensley and Rev. Clyde Stokes will officiate. Burial will follow at Ousley Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. on Thursday, October 29, 2015. Carson McLane Funeral Home
