Maureen (McMahon) Boccaccio, 60, of Newington, formerly of Wethersfield, loving wife of Thomas J. Boccaccio for 45 years, passed away peacefully after a courageous eight year battle with Cancer on Thursday (January 22, 2009) with her family by her bedside.


Maureen was born July 28, 1948 in Miami, Florida and was the daughter of Beatrice (Synder) McMahon and the late John McMahon.


She was a graduate of South Catholic High School and lived in Wethersfield for most of her life prior to moving to Newington. She was the assistant comptroller for Hart-Hanks Transportation Company.


Maureen was a member of the First Church of Christ, Wethersfield, a member of the Wethersfield Democratic Town Committee, Chairman of the Solomon Wells Committee and the Wethersfield Assistant Town Treasurer. Maureen was an avid Boston Red Sox fan and UCONN women's basketball fan. Maureen, a loving, caring, compassionate, wife, mother, grandmother and friend will be sadly missed.


Besides her loving husband, Tom, she is survived by two devoted children, son, Marc J. Boccaccio of Los Angeles, California and daughter, Robin Baker and her husband, Frank of Newington; two cherished grandchildren, Jesica and Tyler Baker; a brother, Michael McMahon of Hartford; four sisters, Patricia Wark and her husband, Michael of Hebron, Kathleen DiSanto and her husband, Michael of Marlborough, Margaret Wilson of Ellington and Mary Beatrice Betton and her husband, Matthew of East Hartford; her mother-in-law, Benedetta Boccaccio of Newington; sisters-in-law, Josephine Richard of Enfield, Eva Mazzotta and her husband, Jim of Newington and Mary Bowman of Springfield, Vermont; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.


Funeral Services will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield.
The burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill.
Calling hours are on Friday from 4-7 p.m. at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel.
